Meet little Sawyer, the young Chihuahua mix. Poor little Sawyer was so scared when he first arrived. His little life has been turned upside down. He didn't know who to trust but has settled in quite nicely and loves the attention of our volunteers. Sawyer is only a year or so old and has had a rough go of it so far. With a little time and patience, we were sure that Sawyer would come out of his shell and make the right family a special companion. Sawyer used to be a little snappy but that was only because he was afraid. Now, he loves to go for walks, get pets and loving. Little Ty sat in a kill shelter waiting for his family who never showed up. His time was up and he was in big trouble. A shelter volunteer contacted E-Rescue in hopes we could save Ty and THAT:S exactly what we did. Ty is a mellow boy who is about 2 years old and weighs around 8 lbs. He's good in the car and on leash. He will make the perfect lap dog. Because of his size, he's best in a home no kids under 5.

Poor little Odie was turned into the kill shelter by a good Samaritan who found him. As you can see Odie has been very neglected and is going to need some serious TLC. He was terrified at the shelter and would not have been placed in their adoption program due to his present condition and how fearful he was. But if you look into those HUGE eyes, you will see the soul of a kind boy who needs reassurance that he is safe. THIS is what our volunteer saw and once they connected, she knew she could not leave him behind. Odie is young, We estimate him to be somewhere between 12 and 18months. It’s sad to know that has experienced such neglect in his young life. But that has now changed, he is the care of E-Rescue and will be good as new soon. Howdy all, My name is Koali. I was named that because in my prison mug shot, I very much looked like a Koala bear J. Prison was very scary and smelled really bad. It’s was so undignified for a lady such as myself. But as bad as it was, it was better than being out on my own in the mean streets. I was lucky, a very nice lady with e-Rescue Houston, sprung me and then took me to the spa for a nice buddle shampoo and pampering. I was so relaxed from it that I slept till past 10am the next day!! Finally I felt safe! I am very happy here, I feel safe, it’s comfortable and I eat all the food I want PLUS I get petting all the time and am told I’m a good girl.
Koali is a senior mini Schnauzer, she’s somewhere between 8-10 years old. She has a cataract on her right eye and one forming in her left. She still can see pretty well. Koali is house trained, sleep all night quietly on her bed and is just wanting a home where she will feel safe and loved. She’s had a very rough life and deserves a great retirement home. She still has many years ahead of her, don’t let her age fool you.

Figaro appears to be a handsome young combo of Chihuahua and gorgeous red Miniature Pincher. He has the most beautiful hazel eyes! Figaro is so tolerant or Nina's puppy play and frankly, joins right in. We watched and laughed as Figaro gleefully splashed water out of their kennel bucket and he looked up to make sure we were enjoying the show.

Say hey to Larry. Larry is a Piebald Dachshund mix boy and just a little doll. Larry needs to go to a home where there are not SMALL children..he prefers to be the smallest "critter" in the house. HURRY, HURRY...he is begging you!! Little Larry is ready for you! He's 9-12 months old and just as sweet as can be. He's playful, but not overly so...even can act a bit shy and frightened. Nothing some TLC will not cure. We have discovered during his stay at the shelter and his interaction with potential adopters....that he is not fond of children....AT ALL. He possibly had something tramatic inflicted on him at the hands of a child and he still has the emotional scares. He would be ideal for a couple who is experiencing the empty nest syndrome or even someone who lives alone or is retired and travels alot. Larry is the perfect size to tag along..wherever you go. | ADOPTED.....Poor little Pia is so confused. This precious baby was adopted into what we thought was going to be her forever home in June. She had everything going for her: a family, kids, a place to play. Well, 6 short months later, the family has decided they don't have time for their speckeled pup any more and they brought her back. Poor baby is a little overwhelmed with kennel live after having been in a home for 6 month. She is sweet, cuddly, tiny and delightful. She will let you know that she wants attention, but who among us doesn't do the same thing! Our guess is she didn't get much attention at all. Pia simply needs someone to love her and for her to love back. She is only about 9 months old but probably close to her grown-up size. Prissy markings are beautiful as is her personality. She liked all of the kids who stopped by at adoptions and was fine around the other dogs. All Prissy wants for Christmas is a home of her own, a real home this time, for forever. | Iggy is a sweet 6 lb. Chihuahua who really wants someone to hold and pet him, although every now and then he thinks it's a good idea to play. He was found as a stray out on a country road, and it's hard to believe anyone would let this little fellow go. He is around 2 yrs. old, housetrained, and loves his walks, but will go out on his own if necessary. Skipper is just a neat little dog. We're not real sure of Skipper's heritage, but we think he might have some Norwich Terrier in him and perhaps some Doxie. UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE
We have absolutely the VERY BEST NEWS to report on our little Boomer. He went to the orthopedic surgeon on Monday and his surgery was done last night. Dr. Powell SAVED this boy’s leg!!!!!
Dr. Powell said this was a birth defect. Folks he had no muscles connecting his leg to his patella. Dr. Powell completely rebuilt his leg. This procedure cost much more than simply having his leg amputated but We are soooooo glad that we took that chance. Dr. Powell did say that his patella on the other leg pops in and out and he may or may not have a problem with that leg in the future. Imagine if we would have amputated his leg and he had a problem with his other leg in the future!!!
E-Rescue wants to say a great big thank you to Rosa Jimenez, a wonderful E-rescue volunteer for suggesting Dr. Powell, Sandra with Houston Beagle and Hound Rescue for putting us in touch with him, for Dr. Powell and his staff for saving his leg, and to each and every one of you who have sent in or called in donations for our boy and to our very own Marjean Morton who is going to foster Boomer while he is recuperating, and to anyone who so graciously volunteered to do so!!!!

UPDATE: Boomer is in Houston and will be seeing an orthopedic Vet on Tuesday. He is reported as having a GREAT personality and while his bad leg does trip him up from time to time, it doesn't stop him from having fun, as you can see in this photo. He is about 6 months old.
We have been contacted by the shelter about this little guy . HisPatella has been ripped out of place and has been twisted around to theinner part of the leg. All the muscles around it have atrophied, so there is really no way to repair it other than amputation.
As you know the majority of our dogs are boarded, not an ideal situation for an amputee to recover. So we are desperately seeking a foster home for this baby to recover after his surgery. |

| Poor little Schotzie. She has no idea why she's back with us and so misses home life. She was adopted in May but was brought back this weekend. Turns out that little Miss Schotzie has discovered the joys of the counter top and the delicious taste of bread. Now most of us would simply move the bread and work on teaching Schotzie the rules of the house with crating and positive reinforcement, but not these folks. It was easier to dump Schotzie than move the lousy bread! They said they just didn't have the time to teach Schotzie how to be a good girl, but did say she's absolutely perfect in every way except for her love of bread. Lots of us can relate to that!
Schotzie is sweet, curious and great with kids. She's barely more than a puppy and needs someone to teach her what is acceptable with positive reinforcement. Schotzie is so much smaller than she appears to be in her pictures, maybe 15 pounds and all grown up at about 1 year old. We think Schotzie is a doxi-chi mix and she's a pint-sized princess who is looking for ever happily ever after. If you are looking for an adorable, precocious pup, Schotzie is the girl for you! ADOPTED We're thrilled to introduce Houston to little Miss Rose. Rose is a Shih Tzu mix girl who has had things pretty rough to say the least. Poor Rose was so filthy and matted when she first arrived, we had no choice but to give her a summer shave to give her a fresh start at a gorgeous coat. Bless her heart, she now looks like a Chinese Crested with her little top-knot of hair on her head and a puff of fur on her tail. The amazing part was that Rose had no hot spots or sores under all of that dirty fur. Her skin is in good shape and her fur will grow back beautifully. Rose is about 3 to 4 years old, teeny and ever so sweet. She trotted along on walks as fast as her little legs would take her and was so grateful for the attention and hugs. Treats were quite popular with Rose as well! Rose has the good fortune to be spending some quality down-time with a fantastic foster mom and a foster Shih Tzu brother and will be meeting her public again at adoptions. ADOPTED Little Gwen and about 8 of her siblings were dumped by their owner at the kill shelter. We rescued one of them last week and are taking Gwen in this week but the otherS all still need help. ADOPTED: UPDATE: Dutches knows some tricks!! she will sit, beg and give paw on command.
Little Dutchess was dumped at the kill shelter along with her babies. He previous owner never even bothered to give her a name so we felt she deserved a Regal one! Dutchess is approximate 12-15 months old and weighs under 20 lbs, She is fully grown and will not get any bigger.
We think Dutchess may have some lab in her and perhaps Rat Terrier. That would make her a "Laratte" the newest designer dog! Whatever her breed might be, Dutchess is adorable, gentle and so easy to be around. Clifford is a youngster, maybe 18 months old. He's sweet, curious, and eager to meet everyone around him. On walks Clifford cannot get enough sunshine or time in the grass. Clifford is a little guy, maybe 8 -10 pounds of so, but a little power-house in a tiny package. ADOPTED Little baby Nina just arrived with her favorite bubba Figaro and neither of them are very big at all. Nina is just a baby, maybe 4 months old, with all of the puppy exuberance in the world. We're not sure exactly what Nina's heritage might be, but we think this tiny baby might be a fun mix of Chihuahua and Beagle but who knows for sure.
Her buddy and big bubba Figaro appears to be a handsome young combo of Chihuahua and gorgeous red Miniature Pincher. He has the most beautiful hazel eyes! Figaro is so tolerant or Nina's puppy play and frankly, joins right in. We watched and laughed as Figaro gleefully splashed water out of their kennel bucket and he looked up to make sure we were enjoying the show.

ADOPTED Welcome to E-Rescue two tiny treasures, Molly & Polly. These sisters have lost so much in the past few weeks. First, due to health issues, their mom had to take them to a shelter. Fortunately for them, this particular shelter has the best ACO in the country!. Originally, there were 3 little girls, but one of the sister was adopted into a great new home but that was loss number two for Molly & Polly. At least they still have each other. We would really like to keep it that way and hopefully will be able to place the pair in their forever home together. Each girl is teeny, weighing around 6 or 7 pounds or so. They are Chihuahua mixes with perhaps a dash of Miniature Schnauzer and possibly Miniature Pincher. Given their shorter than average legs, there could be just a touch of Doxie in these girls too. Molly is has a little more of a rough-coat than Polly. The girls are probably about 2 1/2 years old so size won't be an issue. They are utterly devoted to each other and we hope the right home will come along so that they can stay together forever with a fantastic family.

Both of these girls have spent the last couple of weeks learning to trust people again and they have made remarkable progress. They are both very sweet and loving but are still a little nervous and shy at first. At this point, both of these girls are considered "runners" because, if given even the slightest chance, they will make a run for it and you would probably never see them again. If you are considering adopting one of them, you would have to be extremely vigilant in keeping watch over them and never let them off leash. The would do best in an adult only home or a home with responsible older children. Moet is about 2 years old and just needs a little patience and TLC and she will make a great dog

ADOPTED Sweet little Elizabeth is just a slip of girl inside that big shaggy coat. Poor baby didn't have time for a new do before pictures today, but she will be clipped and combed and bathed and brushed til her coat shines as bright as her eyes. Yes, there really are bright eyes under all of that fur! Elizabeth is a young thing, maybe a year or so old and we think this little delight might be a Tibetan Terrier mix. She is full grown so size won't be an issue for most any home. Elizabeth is shy and just a teensy bit afraid right now, but who can blame her. ADOPTED Meet the newest member of E-Rescue royalty....little miss Princess. Princess was picked up by a loving animal control officer who found her roaming the streets. She was lost, pregnant and all alone with no one to properly care for her, but the ACO knew exactly what to do. She contacted us and of course, we were willing to take Princess into our court to help her transition to the good life. Princess has been spayed and fully recovered from her surgery. She now will be the baby in her new family's life and that family will love and treasure her as she so deserves to be! Princess is another low-to-the-ground, vertically challenged little doll with a heart of gold. She's probably no more that a year or two old, extremely sweet and adorable and just happy to be. She knows she's safe and it shows in her delightful demeanor. We think Princess is a blissful blend of Beagle & Corgi, but know that she is simply an awesome little dog. Princess' family could not keep her safe. she ended up in the pound several times. She is looking for a family that will MAKE SURE she will be safe from now on. ADOPTED Here's our little girl Squeeky! She is very vocal, hence the name, and just wants to be held and cuddled and loved on. Squeeky is a miniature Schnauzer/terrier mix girl, maybe 4 years old, full of energy, but loving the lap. Now how perfect can one girl be! Squeeking craves attention and would be extremely well suited to a stay-at-home someone, with time to devote to Squeeky. She does not have potty messes in her kennel and will likely housetrain easily, if she's not already. ADOPTED Preciousl little Kiwi is brand new to E-Rescue. This delightful little girl is about a year old mix of (we think) Italian Greyhound and Rat Terrier. She has the more beautiful coat, very unusual coloring and yes, she really does have two ears, but you'd never know it from her pictures. We've never seen ears that could go flatter, but she was a little nervous during her photo-shoot, poor dear! She is incredibly sweet and funny. She loves to give hugs, yep hugs and got along great with the other dogs and everyone she met at adoptions. ADOPTED Dell is one of the most handsome little guys we've seen in a long time. They say a picture is worth a thousand words and that's truly the case with Dell. Dell is an Italian Greyhound mix, about 2 years old and totally a love-bug. When we opened his kennel for walks, Dell would fly into our arms for hugs and loving, then prance happily along as we headed outside. To say he is a camera-hound is an understandment. He posed so well for his photoshoot, rather enjoying being the center of attention. Dell is an adult and is full grown. Given his delicate bone-structure, Dell's perfect forever home will be made of gentle people well past the toddler stage to avoid any possible injuries. ADOPTED E-Rescue would like to introduce you to a special little guy named Archie! To say he's cute is an understatement. To say he's sweet, well.....you can only imagine how incredebly sweet Archie truly is. We think Archie is a delightful mix of long-hair Dauschund and Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen. He found his favorites spot during our photo session and that was between one of our volunteers feet, so we let him hang out where he was comfy. Archies is somewhere around 2 years old and will not get any bigger. He was a total gentleman at adoptions with no potty messes in his kennel so housetraining should go well. ADOPTED Sweet little Ricky just arrived at E-Rescue. This adorable little boy was so scared, but so learned that the volunteers were his friends and besides that, we have treats! Ricky is a young Miniature Pincher mix, maybe 18 months old. His neuter, vaccinations and micro-chipping are all included with his adoption fee. Ricky will make that special someone an awesome companion as he only wants to be close and loved on. ADOPTED Say hello to Mohawk. We're not sure exactly what Mohawk's make-up actually is, but our best guess is a glorious mix of long-haired Chihuahua and Chinese Crested, the Powder Puff variety. What we can say about Mohawk with absolute certainty is he is a genuine people pleaser and a total love-bug! Mohawk is about 2 to 3 years old, tiny, cuddly and incredibly sweet. He walked proudly along side the volunteers, obviously happy to be safe and away from the pound. Lots of treats, hugs and walks were rewarded with tons of puppy kisses from this special boy. If you'd like to get your face washed by a super little boy, better hurry. Mohawk will not be around for long!

Rescued from the pound, Blanca immediately knew she was with people who will take care of her and make sure she's safe. Blanca is a Spitz & wire-haired terrier mix female, about 3 years old and an absolute delight. She's full grown and probably weighs less than 18 pounds, the perfect sized girl for most any setting. Chance is a quiet boy who spends the day sleeping but also likes to play with humans and other doggies. He is house trained and sleeps all night with out bothering anyone. | ADOPTED! Darling little Socks just arrived from the shelter after being dumped there by her former family. We have absolutely no idea why such a sweet, tiny girl was simply disposed of, but she was. Socks is a miniature doxie, about 2 years old. Although very scared, she was extremely friendly and cuddly, warming up to the volunteers instantly. Socks will be spayed and vaccinated before heading to her new home. As the backs of doxies are very fragile, we prefer gentle adoptors past the toddler stage for Socks. ADOPTED.....Meet one little cutie named ChiChi, the Chihuahua boy. ChiChi arrived from the pound just today, a little overwhelmed with his travels but none the worse for wear. ChiChi is tiny, sweet and absolutely adorable. At the ripe old age of maybe 18 months, ChiChi is full grown and will be the perfect companion for anyone looking for a super snuggle bug to curl up with. The pictures of him are not that great. It was pouring outside and we have to resort to Plan B. They certainly do not do him justice. He has a a wonderfully colorful coat and bright eyes to match. ADOPTED!!!!!!Meet little Dodger, one tiny action-packed, powerhouse of a cutie wrapped up in a small fluffy white package. When we first met Dodger, the Jack Russel part was easy to figure out. He is high energy, ready to go and meet the world. Then we looked at the curly tail and the thick, fluffy, double coat. Hmmmm, what have we here? Then it dawned on us, miniature Eskimo Dog mixed with Jack Russell Terrier equals Dodger!
Dodger is a young man, maybe 18 months old. At roughly 15 pounds, Dodger is full grown and very small, maybe 10 inches tall at the shoulders. He is just as happy being in your arms as he is exploring the world around him, but make no mistake about it, Dodger is a JRT with that delightful, world-challenging personality common to the breed, but mellowed with the charming traits of the Eskimo breed. Dodger will make a wonderful addition to the right home with time, energy, love and direction to offer this little champion. To say that he wants to please those around him is an understatement. Add a Frisbee or a ball to Dodger's world and he'll think he's in heaven! Given the breeds that make Dodger who he is, he must be kept busy or he will make his own fun. ADOPTED....E-Rescue got a call from our favorite animal control officer last week. She had just met with a lovely elderly woman who, through no fault of her own, was forced to surrender her two beloved dogs. Through the tears and sobbing, this lady explained how she could no longer afford her current home, had moved to a retirement apartment, but dogs were not permitted. She was heartbroken, seriously crushed at having to surrender Coco, the momma and Angel, her baby, but knew this animal control officer would do whatever she could to find her babies a new home. We had to help. We even offered to pay the pet deposit, but this particular facility simply does not allow pets and it was all the lady could afford for housing.
Fast forward to Houston and here is Coco & Angel, two extremely well cared for tiny little chihuahua/doxie mixes. Cococ is probably about 3 to 4 years old. Angel is about a year younger. The two girls have spent their entire lives together and we would love to be able to place them in a home with each other as they've lost so much already. Now we understand that is not always possible, but we can hope and pray that a special home with love enough for these two tiny girls can be found. The girls are housetrained, Both will be spayed, vaccinated and microchipped before heading to their new lives. If you are interested in this precious set of girls, please come and meet them at:

ADOPTED.....Meet darling little Sam, He is sweet. He is adorable. He is teeny-tiny and a total cuddle-bug of a boy. We think that Sam is a Chihuahua/Jack Russel mix and all of about 1 year old. His coat is so unusual with gorgeous grey markings. Sam's eyes are on the grey side too. Sam is full grown but could stand to put on just a little weight. That will come with good food and some loving. Poor little Sam was afraid today since this was his first time at adoptions, but every so sweet and gentle. ADOPTED....What a gorgous little Beagle girl! Miley just arrived last week and did really well on her first day at adoptions. Miley is a tiny Beagle weighing maybe 15 to 18 pounds, slender build with great markings. Miley has an all-tan face, a perfect black saddle, white chest, and sporting 4 white socks with a white tip on her tail, really a very pretty girl. She is super affectionate, loving hugs and kisses. Being a Beagle, she is very curious about the world around her, eager to explore everywhere her nose might take her. We think Miley is about 2 years old and she is all grown up. ADOPTED!!!!Here is our boy Banjo and he is a ?????. To be perfectly honest, we just don't know what Banjo is. He might be a mix of Dapple Doxie and Chihuahua. There might be some Blue Heeler or Rat Terrier mixed in there. We even considered the possibility of a lovely tweed sweater somewhere in the mix. Here is what we do know: Banjo is a tiny little guy, maybe 10 pounds or so. He is very young, certainly under 1 year of age. He is full of life, raring to go, funny, full of energy and likely has pneumatic springs in his feet. (This boy can jump!) Banjo is close to adult size although he might get a little bit bigger, but not much. Training, attention, play and patience will be required to make Banjo the perfect addition to the perfect family. ADOPTED ...I am just not sure how this happened but I ended up in prison in some east Texas town. I was just horrified because a lady like me should never be in a place like that. I am royalty, a Maltese to be exact (ok, I heard someone say that I just might be a mix but who cares). Anyway, after those people realized just who they were dealing with, they let this nice lady in to bail me out. Finally, someone with some sense!!!! Anyway, the nice lady has arranged for my chariot to deliver me to Houston to some folks at E-rescue. Then I will be looking for my proper home and I know they will always make sure that I am safe and never end up in a place like that again.
Here are my vital statistics, I am very sweet (according to the lady with some sense) and I am between 9 months and a year old. A beauty like me needs to weigh a little bit more because I am just too thin.

| ADOPTED!!!!!!!!!!!!!Trinket (6.5 lbs.) was turned in because his family didn't have time for him. We can't say enough good things about this easy-going fellow. He's house and crate trained and loves his walks. He is quiet and undemanding, but if he thinks he can get a pet, he'll be right there for you. Trinket will make a wonderful companion for someone. His age is estimated at around 6-8 yrs., so he has many good years ahead of him. He is neutered, shots up-to-date and microchipped. ADOPTED Here are the kids, Dutchess' beautiful babies. She's done such a good job caring for her puppies and they are now ready for their own homes. Dutchess and the babies were dumped at a pound by an uncaring owner. The kind Animal Control Officer knew this little family deserved a chance so she personally took care of the brood until the puppies were old enough to be adopted. Their momma, Dutchess, is a tiny girl, possibly a lab/rat terrier mix and very small. Dad remains a mystery, but looking at momma, we don't believe the puppies will weigh much more than 20-25 pounds when they are all grown up and possibly less than that. There are boys and girls in the litter and each is cute as a button. Some are smooth coated, some are fluffy. Just look at those tiny faces and get ready to fall in love.
Since the Holidays are upon us, a word of caution: Please do not adopt a puppy (or any other dog) unless you are ready to commit for a lifetime and not just the Holidays. Puppies require a lot of work, a ton of patience, and quality of care in order to have the best dog ever. Only adopt a puppy or an adult dog if you are prepared to make those committments and recieve the most unconditional love you will ever know in return. Thank you.

ADOPTED ...Here's our boy Fuzzy. Perhaps he was a little fluff-ball when he was a puppy and ended up named Fuzzy when his first family took him home. We don't know. We do know that Fuzzy is a delightful young man and so deserving of a proper forever home. Fuzzy was turned in at a pound by his former owners and Heaven only knows why. He is sweet, affectionate and lovable as can be. His fur is not fuzzy, rather soft and silky soft like a Pappion's. There might even be some Spaniel and Doxie in there too although his records say brown terrier, go figure. Fuzzy is only 18 months old and weighs about 20 pounds. He's all grown up and won't get any bigger. He has little short legs, a long-ish body and cute prick ears. Fuzzy's facial expressions are so comical and he seems so eager to please. ADOPTED: PD is here and is he ever a little cutie. PD, short for Prairie Dog, got his name thanks to his habit of sitting straight up on his back legs just like a little prairie dog. He'll sit up, quite comfy and watch the world go by. Of course he opted not to give us his trade-mark stance for picture time, but he really does look like his name-sake when he's perched up straight. PD is a little Chihuahua mix boy, about 2 to 3 years old with the cutest cork-screw tail. His coat is gorgeous tan and red with beautiful black markings. ADOPTED!!!!!!!!!!!!Meet our boy Franklin, a little Smooth-Coat Fox Terrier boy, all of about 2 years old. This great little guy just arrived and was slightly overwhelmed with all of the new sights, sounds and smells at Petco, but who can blame him. He's had a rough couple of days, but is now safe with E-Rescue and loving the attention. Franklin is the classic Smooth-Coat Fox Terrier in looks and personality. He has the black face, the nubby little tail and a strong build. He is enthusiastic, craving attention and play time and seemed to like the kids who stopped by for a visit. This little dynamo will make a great family companion but care must be taken to keep him safe and secure and out of harms way as exploring is something that will come naturally to Franklin. Looking for a playmate for your kids or a running buddy for your daily run? Franklin just might be the right boy for you. Franklin will be quick to alert you to someone at the door or a stray leaf falling

Winston is also quite a little camera hound and posed so nicely for his pictures! Winston is certainly a little charmer with personality plus! Being a Wheaton mix, Winston has a puppy attitude and a sweet, easy-going temperment. You can look into his gorgeous eyes and see the intellegence in this boy's face.
